physical
physical appearance
Gabriel stands proud at 6 foot 3, which was considered technically a giant when he was still human. He has a toned skin, which is thanks to his childhood in the south of France. He weighs about 175 lbs. and is often considered slightly muscular, although not overly so. He has a wide smile, which complement his almost boyish lookd. His hair is also dark brown, with olive-green eyes that are so typical for the region he was born in. He has a foot size 12, which sometimes makes it hard for him to buy shoes in reguar shoes. As a consequence, he usually just gets them custom-made for him.
Gabriel will wear pretty much anything, depending on his mood, but he feels most comfortable in a shirt and jeans. He likes to dress up every once in a while, but doesn’t do it too often so it stays special. When he’s down, he usually wears a tracksuit and whatever else that is as unflattering as can be. He doesn’t like sweaters, however. Ever since he dies, he has no need for them, as he does not feel heat or cold anymore. He just finds them uncomfortable, and the only reason he still wears them from time to time is because it would attract too much attention to walk around in a shirt when it snows.

personality
likes
- Anything beautiful. It’s not just people, it’s pretty much anything. If he thinks a plate or vase looks beautiful. He also generally likes people he deems good-looking, not just romantically, but in any way.
- Good food. As a real Frenchmen, Gabriel is a sucker for good food and wine. His favorite dishes are fois gras, goose liver, duck breast and venison. Yeah, he likes meat.
- Reading. Gabriel has always considered himself an intellectual, and he loves to read. He prefers the French and English classics like Shakespeare and Voltaire.
- Outdoors. Whenever he’s upset by anything or just sad, Gabriel goes outside and just runs around for a while. It always calms him down and helps him to think things out.
- Going out. Even though he might enjoy his solitary moments, but he also likes going out from time to time, getting completely hammered and bringing out his wild side.
dislikes
- Stupid people. Gabriel just hates it when he has to repeat himself, or talk to people who are far less intelligent than him.
- Werewolves. He hates the fact that they have so much power over him every full moon, and doesn’t trust them in general. This also goes for hybrids.
- Mathematics and numbers. Gabriel has always been much better at languages and history and that kind of stuff, and he loathes anything with numbers.
- American beer. He will drink it, but it’s just not even close to the French, Dutch and Belgian beer he’s used to. Luckily, almost every bar also serves Heineken and 1864.
- People who are too nice. Gabriel hates it when people don’t stand up for themselves, and he likes a little bit of aggression, be it verbal or physical.
goals and desires
His ultimate desire, lame as it may be, is still finding someone with whom he can be happy forever. His other dream is to get nominated for a Nobel peace prize, although he knows this will probably never happen.
fears
He is afraid to remain alone forever, which is a long time when your immortal. He’s also scared of werewolves, since they are one of the few things that can kill him. Despite his sunlight ring, he also still doesn’t like the sun, as he knows his ring is the only thing that keeps him alive in it.
strengths
- Of course, the normal vampire strengths: heightened strength, speed and senses, compulsion, that sort of thing.
- Cooking. Gabriel is the best cook you will ever meet. He specializes in French cuisine, but will do anything onn request. He likes it, is good at it, and he even worked as a chef in the 1920’s.
- Languages. This kid has lived in over ten countries, and is fluent in five different languages: French, English, Dutch, Spanish and German. He also speaks some Greek, some Latin and a tiny bit of Italian.
- Personal charm. People usually like Gabriel, and he is one of those people you trust easily. He is usually worthy of that trust, too. Not always, though.
- The drums. He took up playing the drums somewhere early 20th century, and turned out to be a natural. He has played in a couple of bands, nothing too big.
weaknesses
- Beautiful people. If he likes someone, they can make him do pretty much everything. This makes him susceptible to manipulation. Good thing most people he falls for return his feelings, so it hasn’t backfired on him often.
- The normal vampire weaknesses: bite of a werewolf, stakes, fire. He has a sunlight ring that protects him from the sun. His sire fed him vervain so it doesn’t bother him nearly as much as it would a normal vampire.
- Snakes. Gabriel has always had a soft spot for snakes, ever since he first encountered them in Northern Africa. Specifically his pet snake, Echidna.
- Shiny things. He is a little bit… greedy when it comes to this. He never wears jewelry, but his house contains an abundance of gold, silver and gems.
- Blood. Gabriel loves blood, perhaps even more so than the usual vampire. He often tries to incorporate it into his dishes, and always keeps a case of blood bags staged away in his basement.
overall personality
Gabriel is often considered to be a people’s person. He is easy to like and trust, and enjoys social gatherings of any kind. Whether people want to socialize, hang out or get completely drunk, he’s up for it. The downside of this is that he gets close to people pretty easily. It makes it hard for him to eventually let go of them, and when you’re immortal, it kind of sucks if you’re bad at saying goodbye. It has caused him a lot of heartache in the past, especially with his sire, and it will doubtlessly cause him much more pain in the future.
Most people will find that Gabriel is usually a nice kid who treats people kindly. It is one of the reasons people are usually taken in by him, and it only adds to his boyish charm and looks. He has a fake ID that says he’s 22, and people never believe it when he shows it. Not that they care, as long as they make money out of it. He is not like this to everyone, however. There are certain people he just doesn’t seem to like, and he can be an absolute ass to them. He often decides whether or not he likes people the instant he meets them, and that decision will not change.
One of Gabriel’s strongest sides is his vindictive side. If anyone tries to hurt him or anyone he cares about, he will hold a grudge against that person forever. That, combined with his great memory, makes him a dangerous enemy. He may look all sweet and innocent, but it wouldn’t be the first time he killed someone. He once had someone who tried to kill him, chased him around for over thirty years, waiting for the moment when the man would let his guard down, and killed him when he wasn’t expecting it.

history
Gabriel was born in Marseille, in the south of France, to Jean and Marie-Claudette Sourrons. He was their second son, born only two years after his big brother Benjamin. His father was a servant of the governor of king Henry IV of France and Navarre in Marseille. His mother was a cleaner, also for the governor. Together, they made just about enough money to support their little family. They weren’t rich, they had only the most necessary and lived in a tiny house on the governor’s land, but they had each other, and at that time, it was enough to get by.
One day, when Gabriel was four, his parents took him with them to work. The governor, who apparently liked his parents, had offered to pay for Benjamin’s education, so he was off to school. His parents had no one to look after him, and the governor had offered to let him play with his son, who was only nine months older. That day was the forging of a friendship that remained for very, very long. Despite their class difference, the two boys became close friends. Gabriel’s family received a lot of favors from the governor, including education for both their sons, a new house and a small fortune.
About seven years later, when Gabriel was 11, his life changed again. The black plague had been running wild in the city for a while, but so far, no one they knew had gotten infected. They lived in a relatively safe environment, with mostly upper-class people whose chance of getting infected was much smaller than that of the common people. However, that year, destiny finally caught up with them. It started with a swelling in his father’s neck, that started to get bigger and bigger. After a couple of days, he also got a fever. He went to see the governor’s doctor, who immediately sent him away, telling him he was infected with the black death. He came home, telling his family that he would have to leave them forever to keep him from infecting them. However, both his mother and his brother had also discovered swellings in their armpits and groin area, and they decided to instead send Gabriel away to live with the governor, after discussing this with him. Without being allowed to say goodbye, he left.
For seven years, Gabriel lived with the governor and Louis, his son, who had become more of a brother than a friend. He had become incorporated in the family, and had just completed his education. That was when a new man arrived in the household. His name was Nikolai Vadevsky, and he apparently was an important Russian diplomat. He was very young, however. He looked about 22, although there was something timeless and experienced about him. After only a month, Gabriel started meeting the diplomat more often, and they developed a kind of relationship Gabriel had never had: one that was not only emotional and intellectual, but also physical. He had heard of such things happening at court in Paris, however, so he knew it wasn’t completely unacceptable. During one such meeting, Gabriel accidentally hit his elbow against the cupboard, and started bleeding. He saw something change in Nikolai’s eyes, almost like they were changing into marble. He asked him what was happening, and Nikolai relucatantly started telling him about vampirism and the supernatural.
Of course, Gabriel’s mind was blown, but he managed to not tell anyone about what he had recently discovered. He started thinking, about his own mortality, and decided he wanted to be a vampire too. He confronted Nikolai with this thought, but the older man refused. He told Gabriel that if he still wanted it in a year, he would be turned. Gabriel agreed with this. How much is one year when you have all eternity? But what neither of them knew was that Nikolai had enemies, who had discovered him. One of them, a woman, found out about their relationship, and sucked him almost dry. Nikolai came in, and they fought. In the end, Nikolai prevailed and killed the woman, ramming the leg of a chair through her heart. He quickly cut his own hand, and forced his blood through his throat. Then, everything went black.
When he woke up, Nikolai was standing over him. He tried to stand up, only to find that he was tied to a bed. When he asked Nikolai to release him, the older man shook his head and explained that Gabriel was transitioning. He would have to drink in the next 22 hours, or he would die. If he really wanted to become a vampire, Nikolai would help him, but he would spend the next hour tied to that bed to really think about it. Gabriel figured Nikolai was right, and he took his advice to heart. In the end, however, he realized that his fear of death would always be bigger than his fear of eternal life. He told Nikolai this, and the vampire consented. Half an hour later, he returned with a cleaner who looked like she had no idea what was going on. Overcome with hunger, Gabriel ran up to her, faster than he had ever seen anything move, and dug his fangs –since when did he have fangs?- in her neck. After a while, Nikolai gently released her from Gabriel’s grip. The boy knew one thing for sure: things would never be the same.
Somehow, Gabriel managed to keep his death a secret to the rest of the household. His life continued, shockingly similar to what it had been like before. He still spent most of his time with Louis, with the occasional nocturnal visits to Nikolai. Gabriel knew he had to leave within the next year, and leave his old life behind. The 14th of May, something happened that screwed up those plans. King Henry died, and his widow Marie de Medici would manage the government until her son, Louis XIII, turned eighteen. She wasn’t a big fan of the current governor, and had both him and his son arrested. Louis decided to fight back, however, and was mortally wounded and left to die. They murdered his father there and then, no saving him, but right before the last life seeped out of him, Gabriel fed Louis some of his blood, turning him into a vampire in a last attempt to save his life.
They lived together like a happy family. Nikolai and Gabriel, who were still in a relationship, and Louis, Gabriel’s best friend. Life couldn’t be better, it seemed. They travelled, first to Holland, where they lived for a while, and fought in the Dutch army in the eighty-years war. In 1672, when disaster was coming to Holland, they decided to move to Russia, where Nikolai was from. They lived there, until 1721, when Peter the Great was crowned tsar. They all knew instantly that Peter would turn out to be a moronic egomaniac, and left for Rome, Italy. They lived there for almost a century, until they got bored and wanted a change of scenery. The new scene would be Barcelona, Spain. Spain was still under the rule of the brother of the French emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, and they got sick of the continuing war pretty soon. They went to Germany this time.
It was in Munich, in 1878, that their family dynamic changed. They lived there, posing as a group of writers who originated from Spain. France was a bit impopular in Germany after 1871, so they decided to at least change their nationality. The reason they had gone to Munich, was because Nikolai had heard that Munich had a big supernatural community, and he felt like it was time for them to meet more vampires. It was indeed good for Gabriel. He learned more about what is what to be a vampire, and about their history, beginning with the Original vampires. Vampires weren’t the only supernatural creatures who roamed the streets of Munich, however. It was there that Gabriel met his first werewolf. It was a guy who had been picking a fight with him for a while, and finally, Gabriel lost his temper and hit him. Bleeding, the man told him that he would get him next full moon. Worried, Gabriel told Nikolai about what had happened. The wolf stayed true to his word. The next full moon, several wolves attacked their house, and killed both Louis and Nikolai. Gabriel was heartbroken, killing all the wolves who had raided their house in the next month.
After what he would later refer to as the ‘Munich-incident’, Gabriel went rogue. He had heard in Munich that if he wanted, a vampire could ‘turn off’ his humanity. Driven by grief and anger, Gabriel did exactly that. He started travelling around the world, leaving a trail of blood and gore. When he looks back at that period now, which he tries to avoid, he cannot even remember where he went in that century, or who he killed. In 1982, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming, he met a girl. For the first time since the murder of Nikolai and Louis, Gabriel felt something again. It was that feeling for the girl that snapped him back to reality, realizing what he had done. The relationship with the girl only lasted two years, but at the end of it, Gabriel was finally back to normal. He travelled the States for a while, never staying somewhere long. Somewhere end 2012, he had heard news of supernatural creatures stirring in a small town called Mystic Falls, Virginia, and he decided to go there.

Jerome opened the door of one of his favorite bars and entered. He had lived a long while, stayed in many cities and drank at a myriad of bars, but he had rarely encountered someone like this one. It was a rare combination of the sophisticated with the relaxed, and Jerome had loved it since he first set foot into town. The bouncer asked him for his ID, and he showed it. The fake one, of course. Well, technically, all of his ID’s were fake, since nobody would believe him if he said he was 219 years old and still looked like he was barely an adult. The bounce r looked at the card like he was studying the photo and date of birth on it. He probably didn’t really believe Jerome was over 21, but he didn’t really care either, so het let him in anyway.
Jerome quietly and quickly examined the crowd that had already gathered in the grand bar, but he recognized no one. He dropped himself in a seat at the bar, next to a cute redhead girl with pretty green eyes. Jerome wasn’t particularly into red hair, but this was a peculiarly beautiful individual. The bartender came to take his order, and Jerome asked him for a scotch on the rocks. He wasn’t normally a spirit guy, but this place did something to him. He felt a little weird ordering a beer in this fancy bar, where everyone around him was either drinking 10-dollar cocktails or the only foreign wine Jerome had ever tasted that was better than what he was used to back in France. It was for that same reason that he always dressed up when going here. He now wore a cashmere cardigan and beige pantaloons with black suede shoes that he would never wear on a school day, but he felt like it helped him fit in in a place like this.
While he was waiting, his mind wandered off. He thought about what Willem would have said if he were here with Jerome. They’d probably go over all the girls in the bar, checking for potential victims to drink from. Even though Jerome liked men as well as women, and he knew that Willem was not exactly innocent in that area, when they were together, they always seemed to chase after the girls. It somehow felt more masculine, and the two of them had always emphasized each other’s testosterone rushes. The bartender came with his drink, and Jerome paid for it straight away. The redhead next to him rose, probably to go to the bathroom, and in doing so, hit her elbow against the bar, causing a small wound to appear. Jerome excused himself, and took her arm. He asked the bartender for a napkin to wipe off the blood, and, in doing so, purposely forced some blood to fall into his glass. He had always liked his drinks spiked. He took a sip. It tasted vaguely of spring and mandarins, the sweetness of chocolate combined with the sourness of lemons, with a strong undertone of scotch and alcohol. If he had to guess, he would have to say O-negative, a rare treat. The scotch was also pretty good, single malt, probably.
He relaxed a bit and enjoyed his drink while eavesdropping on the people in the bar. It was one of his favorite activities when he was alone in a bar. He heard one couple in the far back discussing their son who had dropped out of college. Apparently, it was a disgrace for the entire family. Two women he couldn’t directly locate were gossiping about who had had sex with whom at their office, and a group of five somewhere close to the two women, at least that was what he guessed, were laughing loudly at a joke about a priest and an altar boy. A smile appeared on Jerome’s face. He might still be a catholic, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t appreciate a good joke. To his surprise, he suddenly noticed a woman taking the seat next to him. The woman was beautiful, a conventional blond in her early twenties. Apparently, she was alone. Jerome had already fed, and he didn’t really have any sexual attraction toward the woman, but he felt drawn to her for some reason. He turned to her, in an attempt to start a conversation.
“So, why are you all alone here?”
